Via de Blue hole terug via een rek op het zand, waar een zeepaardje
zat
One of the most famous dive sites in Lanzarote, the Blue Hole
(spanish: Agujero Azul) is a must on a diving holiday to the island.
Formed by a bubble in the lava flow this is a stunning swim through,
leading the diver from the top of the reef at around 20m down to the
opening into the blue at around 30m.
We enter the water from the little pier at playa chica, exploring the
shallow area along the wall before going down across the sand dune,
across the field of garden eels before reaching the entrance to the
Blue Hole. As you come through the swim through keep a look out
to your right for any groupers hanging around under the many ledges
the reef creates. Following the reef edge around there are many
caves and cavities to explore, but be sure to have a look above you
for the schools of barracuda which frequent the area.
As we head back to our exit point keep your eye out for anything
swimming below us in the deep blue and also sleeping angel sharks
and rays hidden in the sand on the seabed.
A whole range of sea life can be seen on this dive, without a doubt, a
dive worth repeating.
The top of the Blue Hole sits at approximately 22metres, and the
bottom of it 28metres, making this dive suitable for Advanced Open
Water divers and above. |
