Driftduik
It is one of the furthest south reefs of Hurghada. This dive site consist
of a wall which gently shallows to finally become a lagoon where the
boats are moored up. It is an ideal place for the beginner and
advanced divers as it offers different sorts of depths.
Dive site:
After descending we dive in a direction of a small ergs located on the
eastern side of the reef. We pass them by and dive towards the north
keeping ourselves next to the ridge at the depths of around 16 m.
After a while bottom starts to fall to the depths of 30 m and more. We
turn back and dive next to the reef towards the boats visiting few
smaller ergs on the way. One of these ergs has a vertical hole filled up
with Glass Fish perfect for photo shots.
Flora & fauna:
Thanks to the variety of depths and the topography, we can spot here
not only almost all the reef species of the Red Sea but also huge
pelagic fishes such as Reef Sharks, Tunas or pods of Dolphins. The
reef is densely covered with soft and hard corals, between which Stone
Fish and Scorpion Fish are awaiting their prey. We recommend careful
observation of the bottom as the endemic Red Sea Walkman or Moth
Fish can often be spotted here. Often just under the surface of the
water one can spot large Calamari or a turtle taking a breath before is
next dive.
Depth: from 4 m to 30 m |
