El Mina Wreck
The El Mina Wreck lies just east of Hurghada harbor. Resting on a rocky seabed with the bow at 25 meters, the stern at 32 meters. El Mina is an Egyptian minesweeper that was shot down by the Israeli fighter in 1969.
About the Dive
Even when weather conditions are calm the northerly currents are usually strong from the surface down to the ship. Once near the ship, currents subside enough to enjoy an interesting wreck dive. Since the vessel is only about 70 meters long, you can take your time getting down to it. Still on board this wreck are anti-aircraft guns, large winches and live ammunition. There is a large blast hole near the front of the boat where it is possible to penetrate. When observing this wreck closely, take care of the loose wires and debris still attached to the boat.
Reef Life & Special Interests
Not a lot of fish or coral live near this wreck but if wrecks interests you this is worth at least one dive. Only a few cleaner shrimp and glassfish are most likely to be seen near the wreck
